The first time I moved to Toronto (4 years ago) was a very carefree time in my life during which I was introduced to The Shins by my roommate Monika. We only had a half wall separating our bedrooms and we would make music playlists to serenade us to sleep. It was a year of discovery and the year I finally acknowledged that filmmaking and acting was my passion. Now 4 years later, this band still holds a special place in my heart and reminds me to be spontaneous, adventurous, and to accept anything that life throws at you. Just like the boy in this beautifully crafted video, there were times I felt lost and had no idea where my future was taking me. But I have learned to trust that voice in my heart and embrace the unknown.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY SIÂN!
Hey friends, it’s Siân’s birthday and in honour of her birthday and her new obsession with ponies I present to you the My Little Pony opening theme song. Because friendship really is magic and we here at Siana Films love to make magic for people. Hope your day is filled with magic and friendship, and of course ponies.
I know it’s a Demi Lovato song but it’s kinda catchy and the video is so beautiful. The shots are amazing and they may actually be using a similar camera technique that we love to use in our videos.
I have really great posture. It’s true, I do. And because of that some people ask me if I am a ballerina. I am not but I secretly always wish I could be. I love watching dance and I really wish I had the dedication and drive to become a dancer. For now I watch in awe, especially this number on the latest season of So You Think You Can Dance. The dancing is beautiful, the song is beautiful and the emotion conveyed is beautiful…..feeling so inspired. -A

People like this make me want to do so much more, be so much more.
If anyone knows me they surely know that I am a sucker for a period piece. I swear my past life was in the late 1800s, something about that time resonates with me. Hence my obsession with antiques and a bedroom full of antique furniture and jewelry. And the men were Men in those times, going off to battle, providing for their families and working in the fields in their finest vests and trousers. So clearly I was delighted to stumble upon this beautiful film, Jane Eyre.
Besides the obvious epic story and beautiful cinematography, theres a lot you can do wrong in a period piece, But this one was quite exceptional. Casting was dead on perfect! I didn’t even realize it was Michael Fassbender playing the lead Mr. Rochester. His performance was rich with counterpoints and vulnerability. And Mia Wasikowska was simply breathtaking in her nuanced performance and showed so much control in her craft.
This type of film is not for everyone but definitely for the old souls that love a good period film.
As the other half of the Siana films company I wanted to tell you a little bit about myself. Now don’t expect witty rhetoric like my dear friend Sian, she has this blog thing down to a science. I am still learning and will be doing even more blogging when my newly designed site is complete (i.e. www.thediamondlife.ca). But until then I can practice on our Siana blog.
To explain how the film collective began I need to let you know my history in the film world, I will keep it brief I promise. I have a degree in science but quickly realized that world was not for me, interned for MTV, became a PA for reality shows, decided I wanted to become a host, left the hosting world, created my own web series, wrote a short film, wrote a television pilot and finally focused on acting. I told you it would be brief! Acting has always been my one true love, for as long as I can remember. But for a very long time I didn’t have the courage to pursue it. But you really can’t deny what you love for very long. When I started my acting journey I felt like I could breathe again, find something that compels you and you will soon know what you are made of.
This journey led me to the wonderful team at OTM zine who graciously asked to do a feature on my web series (the diamond life) and I was delighted to meet my photographer, ms Sian Melton (the article: http://otmzine.com/ana-alic). Turns out we actually went to high school together but were in different circles of friends. The shoot was magical and I think we both knew that we were destined to work together. Fast forward a year and Siana films was born, purely out of our love for fashion, friends, beautiful films and of course magic and make-believe.
